Bond's Walther PPK

Perhaps best known as James Bond’s side arm of choice, the PPK is a slightly smaller version of the original Walther PP, which began production in Germany in 1929 and was widely used by the military and police.

PPK is a German acronym meaning Polizeipistole Kriminellmodell, (Police Pistol Detective Model).  The PP and PPK are regarded as among the world’s first successful, double action semi-automatic pistols.  They have been widely copied, but never duplicated or improved.

The pistols were produced briefly after the war in France by the Manurhin Company, but returned to Germany when a new factory was established. The PP, PPK and PPK/S is still produced in almost exactly the original design specifications by Smith & Wesson in the United States, under license from Walther.
