Benetton Ford B194  Michael Schumacher 1994 Formula 1 World Champion

This limit edition art print represents Michael Schumacher's Mild Seven Benetton Ford B194 in its livery at the Australian Grand Prix, Adelaide Street Circuit, Adelaide Australia,13 November, 1994.

Designed by Rory Byrne for the 1994 season, the B194 was a notoriously difficult car to drive.  In 1994 the electronic driver aides were removed by FIA fiat, and the result was cars that were skittish, to say the least.  Of the four drivers in the Benetton stable that year, only Schumacher seemed able to make the relatively underpowered car work, winning six of the first seven races on his way to the 1994 World Driver’s Crown; the first of his mind-bending seven titles.

1994 was one of the closest title duels in F1 history, being decided in the last race in Adelaide when Schumacher, leading Damon Hill FW16 by a single point, crashed himself and Hill out of the race, ending Hill’s chance at the win.

With some irony, the B194 illustrated here won the Championship, but didn’t finish the race.
