What is a Giclee - Shipping Method - Shipping Cost

Originally, giclees (ghee-Clay) had another use.  Lithograph artists wanted a way to see what their prints would look like, without having to go to a professional printing house and have an offset proof pulled.

They hit upon the idea of scanning the original, pulling a digital copy of their image and printing it on a high resolution digital printer.

As a pleasant surprise, they found the digital prints actually looked better, were more faithful to their original, than offset prints.

So, a giclee print is a high resolution, high quality, extremely fine reproduction of the original art, printed on special high resolution ink jet printers.  Giclee reproduction has become the standard among lithographers, painters, photographers and graphic artists.

My giclees are printed on heavy acid free archival art paper and are printed one at a time, carefully inspected by myself, signed and numbered.  The prints are sold unframed, but frame beautifully.

The images you will see on this website may appear a bit fuzzy, because they are low resolution jpegs at 72 dpi, (the standard for the web) but the giclees are printed very high resolution at 1440 dpi, on archival acid free art paper, which renders then faithful to the originals.

Editions                The edition numbers are finite, and when an edition is sold out, it will never be available again.

Framing                The prints are sold unframed. I do not frame, because that should be the done in the style that the buyer  prefers.

Shipping Method    The prints are shipped in sturdy mailing tubes.  I have been shipping them this way for several years and none have

been damaged.  The prints are sent USPS First Class.  Delivery in the U. S. usually in three to four days.

Shipping Cost        Shipping is included to anywhere in the continental United States.  For international orders, depending on country,

usually about $12.00.

All materials on HistoriesArt.com is protected under copyright.  None of the images or prints may be reproduced, altered, resold, or offered on any web site other than HistoriesArt.com.
